The Looker Energy Environmental Fund
Looker Energy own and operate a 500kW capacity wind turbine about a mile to the south east of Godmanchester, which has been generating electricity since September 2015 and is contributing to the development of a low carbon economy. To encourage people in their local community who share their concern for the environment, Looker Energy will make a contribution every year to The Looker Energy Environmental Fund, directly related to the amount of renewable energy they have produced.
The Looker Energy Environmental Fund makes grants to projects that
- promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment, including action designed to mitigate the effects of climate change, in the civil parish of Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire and in Port Holme in the civil parish of Brampton, Cambridgeshire
OR
- advance the education of the public living working and studying in the civil parish of Godmanchester in the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment, including action designed to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Who can apply?
Applications for funding are invited by
- Constituted groups (not individuals) delivering charitable projects can apply for up to £7500.
Organisations must have three or more independent people on their management committee, an up to date Equality Policy, a bank account with two or more independent signatures and a Safeguarding Policy if working with either children and/or vulnerable adults. If groups need help with the preparation of any of these documents or their constitution, please contact CCF who will put you in touch with the local Council for Voluntary Service.
If the group is a registered charity its submissions to the Charity Commission must be up-to-date.
- Individuals who live in the area served by the Fund can apply for an Educational Grant of up to £200.
Educational Grants are available to assist in the study or research of the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment, especially with respect to mitigating the effects of climate change. Individuals wishing to apply should contact CCF to request an application form.
When to apply?
Applications are invited by 1 February to be included in discussions at the annual panel meeting held in March
General comments on use of funds
Grants will not be made retrospectively so no commitment for expenditure should be made before the date of the grant offer letter. Funding will not be provided to support projects promoting political or religious views, for sponsored events or to cover expenditure considered to be a statutory responsibility. Grants will not normally be given to projects primarily concerned with animal welfare, medical research and equipment.
